Schools and community groups in Carriacou and Petite Martinique are busy beautifying their surroundings as activities to celebrate Grenada’s 34 th anniversary of independence got started here on Sunday with a church service at Christ the King Anglican Church.
On Monday 28 th students from the two secondary schools Bishop’s College and Hillsborough Secondary will display how much they know about their country, they participate in a quiz at the Resource Centre. Tuesday January 29 th athletes from both the primary and secondary school will take to the road in the GUT Independence Road Race, later that evening at 2:30pm at the Hillsborough Community Center will be the 2 nd annual Mr. & Ms Independence Show.

And on Wednesday 30 th residents of Petite Martinique are expected to come out in their large numbers for their parish celebrations and at 7pm that same day persons who have made significant contributions to the country will be recognized at an award ceremony to be held at the Carriacou Health Services.
Independence activities will culminate in Carriacou & PM on January 31 st with the Carriacou Parish celebrations. This year there is a change in venue, it will be held at the mini-stadium in Lauriston rather than the usual Hillsborough Recreation Ground.
