"He was a good boy".

That's how Kathy-ann Cox described her son, Akim who was murdered at around 11.00 p.m. Friday night in the latest spate of senseless killing by youngsters in the Spice Isle.

Young Akim, 21 of the Darbeau hills overlooking River Road in St. George's died as a result of a single stab wound inflicted on him at the Car Park of the Fish Market on Melville Street where he joined hundreds in partaking in the regular Happy Hour lime.

As Kathy-ann spoke to GRENADA TODAY newspaper, her own mother chipped in: "He (Akim) was nice to me. He was a loving boy to the family". Akim, known by friends as ET is a past student of St. George's Anglican School known as Hindsey. He was a regular visitor to the Fish Market lime.

According to Kathy-ann, she and other members of the family were also partaking in the Happy Hour when Akim came up to her and held onto a beer that she was drinking and finished off the drink. He soon disappeared from her, as he spotted a female companion and went away dancing behind her.

"I went to look for him and he showed me some girl of his and then I left and came up home", the mother said. Kathy-ann indicated that later that night, she received a telephone call from a friend of the family who told her that Akim had been killed at the Fish Market.

"His friend Boyo also called and say, "ET" dead. Well I fall down on the ground and started to bawl", she said. The distraught mother left with other family members for the St. George's General hospital where she saw the body of Akim lying in the small mortuary.

Akim who is survived by five sisters and four brothers was expected to be laid to rest on Thursday at the St. George's Cemetery. Kathy-ann made an impassionate plea to the youth of the nation to stop the violence and the senseless killing of each other.

She said that she would support moves by the authorities to curb the upsurge of these Happy Hour events that are attended mainly by youngsters and which see a lot of fighting among that segment of the population.

"I will really miss my son. You know, he is a person when he is outside, I can't sleep. I always wanted him to be with me", she lamented. Police have charged Brandon Casimir, a 26 year old youngster of Boca, St. George's for the death of Akim.

A post mortem conducted on the body revealed that the cause of death was a single stab wound to the chest that punctured the heart.
