It was a "mustsee' battle as the Anglican High School (AHS) and the Grenada Boys Secondary School (GBSS) came face to face at the third SGU Knowledge Bowl Finals on April 19.
At the end of the match, the girls from Tanteen claimed the right to be called the Champions, walking away with Certificates of Excellence, $10,000 in cash for their school, individual laptops for the five team members and the two coaches and a $500 bank account for each of the team members.
GBSS team members earned Certificates of Merit, a $5,000 prize for their school and $500 bank accounts for each team member.
This was the culmination of eight weeks of intense battle among 19 of the nation's secondary schools.
The GBSS, as the reigning SGU Knowledge Bowl Champions, were going for their second consecutive win, while the AHS girls where in the finals for the first time.
The competition got off to a fine start with the Anglican High School just managing to hold on to a four point lead with a score of 106 in the Science and Technology round.
Then things really got heated up as the schools scored an equal number of points in the Arts & Humanities round, putting the score at 26-22.
But the final round was swift and decisive as the AHS dominated the General Knowledge Round, adding another 12 points to their total.
As the final buzzer signaled the end of the competition, there was no doubt where the challenge trophy was going.
