The offence of robbery with violence, housebreaking, and stealing are the bulk of cases listed on the cause list for the February Assizes which began in St. George's on Tuesday.

Twenty-two of those cases are among the list of 80 that are listed for this period of sitting of the Supreme Court of Grenada in its criminal jurisdiction.

The next bulk of cases is the offence of grievous and dangerous harm, and wounding which has a total of 20.

There are 18 cases of sexual offenses which include one incest, and seven murder cases, one manslaughter, and one attempted murder.

The other cases include possession of firearm and ammunition, fraud, and causing death by reckless driving, among others. The assizes are to be presided over by High Court Judges, Madam Justice Clare Henry, and Justice Francis Cumberbatch at the number one and two high courts, respectively.

Thirty-three of the cases for the February Assizes were traversed from the October 2007 cause list. During the assizes, La Poterie youngster, Hercules Andrew will be sentenced for the murder of a former St. Joseph's Convent, Grenville student, Skitta Edgar of the same address.

The 19-year old was found guilty of the crime last December, but sentencing was reserved for February 14 by Justice Henry who presided over the trial.
