A mother of an eight year old end on the island with a renal failure problem is seeking the public's assistance to get urgent medical attention for her daughter.
A clearly disturbed, Joan Bristol of Hope, St Andrew's visited the office of GRENADA TODAY last week Thursday to make a plea for help public for her young one.
Bristol said that since the child, Zedina was put on dialysis treatment more than two years ago she has been struggling to ensure that her daughter get the three weekly treatment she has to undergo.
She indicated that she was able to secure financial assistance through family members and friends to get the treatment for Zadina over the years.
However due to extreme financial constraints, this assistance has reduced thus forcing the child to get only two treatments per week, a situation which is impacting negatively on her daughter's health. The cost of one treatment is $665.00.
The mother said that the local Kidney Association pays for one treatment per week while the Ministry of Health has promised to give some sort of assistance.
According to Bristol, she owes the Dialysis Clinic for some of the treatment given to her daughter and is right now unable to make other payments.
The eight year old child received treatment last week Thursday but hours later her face was swollen.
According to the mother she is particularly concerned that her daughter's health is not that good at the moment and was hoping that her concerns will be adequately addressed.
Bristol said that whenever her daughter is experiencing severe pain it brings tears to her eyes.
She is hoping that Grenadians will hear her cry for help and contribute towards her daughter's well-being.
