Police Officers attached to the Criminal Investigation Department and Traffick are investigating the circumstances that led to the tragic death of a 49-year old man from Grand Anse, St. George's on the Belmont main road.

The head of Stanley Salim Williams was crushed on Carnival Monday by a truck that carrying the sound system for one of the Fancy Mas Bands led by Francis Redhead.

The truck, registration number TA262, was at the time making its way back to the mas camp after the revellers paraded before the judges at the 2008 Pageant.

Reports surrounding the incident say that Williams, a handyman who was assisting in different ways was on the truck, apparently slipped off the truck resulting in his upper body being crushed. He died on the spot.

The accident victim was at the time looking after one of the generators at the lower level of the truck that was used to provide the power for the sound system.

Apart from minor vehicular accidents, that incident was the only one to have put a slight damper on the 2008 Carnival Celebrations.
