Miss Grenada Carnival Queen comes from the historic Parish of St. Patrick's.
Ashieda Charles beat six other contestants, each representing a Parish, including Carriacou and Petite Martinique, to walk away with the coveted title.
Charles who graced the stage at the Grenada National Stadium in her first appearance of greeting the audience failed to attract their attention.
However, by the time the talent section of the competition came around, the St. Patrick's beauty won the hearts of the patrons by having them screaming and applauding her intelligent presentation of the just concluded July 8 General Elections.
The 2008 Carnival Queen took the top prize for best talent, swim wear, costume, evening wear, and the people's choice.
Miss St. George, Lisa Thomas was crowned as the first runner-up. She won the best interview.
The second runner-up was Miss Carriacou and Petite Martinique, Michaelia Bartholomew.
She also took the prizes of Miss Congeniality, and best ambassadorial speech.
Miss St. Mark, Shandra Thomas won the individual category of Miss Photogenic.
