
One more crown for the parish of St Patrick, this time it was young controversial calypsonian Biko "Biko" Lewis who brought the coveted calypso monarch home.
"Biko" edged out his competitors and won the approval of hundreds of spectators to capture the 2008 calypso monarch at the National Stadium on Sunday night, beating his closest rival "Sour Serpent" by five points.
At the end of "Biko's" first and second performances, there was no doubt in the spectators and judges mind that he will walk away with the title held by noted calypsonian Finley "Scholar" Jeffrey who opted out of this year's competition to focus on this education.
Ms Arlene "Arlene" Joseph, one of the two females in the competition made her debut on the big stage and gave a good account of herself to get a settling position of third together with Christopher "Squeezy" Antoine,they were followed by Mr. X who placed fourth.
Teacher Eddie placed fifth, followed by Rico, Croquetta, Sisterly and Papa Jerry respectively.
Meanwhile, in the King and Queen of the Band parade also held on Sunday night, Lazarus Antoine captured the title followed by RKD. The third position was taken by Francis Redhead and Helen Marie (tie).
The Queen of the band title went to Commancheros. The portrayal of "My Carnival Queen" was paraded by Denisha Frank.
RKD placed second while Helen Marie took the third position.
