Less than two months after stepping down as a School Principal and Supervisor of Elections, Victor Ashby has landed another government-paid job.
Informed sources told GRENADA TODAY that Ashby has been taken back at the Electoral Office as a Consultant to work alongside his predecessor, Nadica Mc Intyre.
A well-placed source said that the former Electoral Chief has often called staffers at the Woolwich Road headquarters to issue instructions to them on things that needed to be done at the office.
A few weeks ago, Ashby confirmed to this newspaper that he was "sounded out" by the authorities on a job offer at the state-run National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA).
Efforts were already being made at the institution to prepare office space for his expected arrival.
However, sources said that the appointment was apparently "put on hold" and Ashby is now back in an official capacity at the Electoral Office as a Consultant.
The former principal of the Grenada Boys Secondary School (GBSS) was forced to retire from public service at the end of August after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.
Ashby had already benefitted from a year one extension but the Public Service Commission (PSC) was reluctant to give him another one-year grace on the job.
In recent years, Ashby's name has also been linked as a possible replacement for Sir Daniel Williams as the island's Governor-General.
