Grenada has recorded its second murder for 2007.

The accused

Dead is a 38-year old unemployed resident of Springs, St. George's, David "Tobacco" Alexis. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Royal Grenada Police Force have arrested and charged two young St Paul's residents with the murder.

They are Kellon Andrews, a 22-year old Mason and,19-year old Shane Donald, a Mechanic by profession. Andrews and Donald made their first court appearance before Chief Magistrate Patricia Mark on Tuesday to answer the charge of murder.

Both murder suspects are being represented by Attorney-at-Law, Peter David of the law firm of Ciboney Chambers. Reports reaching GRENADA TODAY indicate that the incident occurred at approximately 5:20 a.m. on the block commonly known as "Wall Street" in Grand Anse.

It was reported that an altercation ensued between "Tobacco", Kellon and Shane which led to the killing. A broken bottle is believed to have been used to inflict the deadly wound on Tobacco who was a regular inmate at the Richmond Hill prison for a series of stealing offence.

When Police officials rushed to the scene the body of "Tobacco" was discovered lying motionless on his back with a stab wound to the right side of his neck. A doctor who was summoned to the scene, examined the body and pronounced him dead.

The two murder accused persons are expected to make their next court appearance on March 19. The first person to be killed in the new year was 28 year old Nealon Bell of Frequente, St George's, who was stabbed to death last month following an altercation with another villager in "The Bronx", Frequente area.
