ANOTHER police officer has brought disgrace to the Royal Grenada Police force (RGPF) in connection with a stealing incident at the newly built cricket stadium at Queen¹s Park, St. George¹s.
One officer attached to the Special Services Unit (SSU) of the force along with another ex-cop are among four person charged with theft.
Charged are 31 years old Bevon Joseph, of Pearls, St. Andrew¹s, who is a member of the SSU outfit and Nyrone Alexander, 30 years old, ex-officer attached to Traffic Department at Grenville, St. Andrew¹s.
The other two persons that were implicated are Sean Frame, 29 years Labourer of Pearls, St. Andrew¹s, and a 16 year of secondary school student, said to be the brother of Alexander and also residing at Conference, St. Andrew¹s.
According to well-placed sources, the accused persons were taken into custody after allegedly being caught on camera at the stadium removing items including screen TV monitors from the compound.
The TV monitors were used during the staging of the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup in Grenada.
A source told this newspaper that the arrested men were charged in connection with three stolen television sets from the stadium.
Joseph was reportedly charged for possession of one Television valued at more than $900.00 while Alexander and the others were charged in connection with stealing three televisions valued over $2,000.00.
At the time of the incident, Alexander was said to employed at the stadium.
The ex-cop was among several police officers accused of involvement in looting during the passage of Hurricane Ivan on September 7, 2004.
Joseph, the SSU officer has been suspended from active duty from the force pending the outcome of the court matter.
