The much anticipated return to the island of Grenada's Ambassador to the United Nations, Ruth Rouse has been delayed for several weeks.

Informed sources in New York told GRENADA TODAY that Rouse would remain at her desk in New York until the end of January and then proceed on holiday leave for an unspecified period before returning to a new posting in Grenada.
"I don't think that she would be coming back home for sometime still. No one can say for sure but the word up here (Brooklyn, New York) is that she would remain on the job until the end of this month and then take her holiday. The authorities back home (in St. George's) have apparently decided to go along with this", said one source who asked not to be named.
Speculation is rife that the female diplomat will be taking up the insignificant post of Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and the Environment headed by Ann David-Antoine.
According to the source, Ambassador Rouse first heard about her transfer back to Grenada from one of the resident Caribbean diplomats in New York before it was officially communicated to her from the government in St. George's.
"She (Rouse) was shocked and taken aback when one of the diplomats unknowingly said to her that she was sorry to hear that she (Rouse) was going back to Grenada. Ruth confessed to her that she was not aware of this.
It was sometime later that she got her letter recalling her home", said the source.
The information about the removal of the female Grenada envoy from the top job at the New York mission was allegedly leaked to the foreign diplomat by a visiting senior Grenada government minister.
The source pointed out that the "downfall" of Ambassador Rouse started over a year ago when she did not show up for a political event organised by supporters of the ruling New National Party (NNP) for visiting Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Mitchell in New York.
He spoke of supporters complaining that the female diplomat was not doing enough "political work" for the party and government in her role as Ambassador to the United Nations.
The NNP support group in New York is said to have lost a lot of political ground to the arch rival National Democratic Congress (NDC) of barrister-at-law, Tillman Thomas.
When she returns home, Ambassador Rouse is die to take over the Health Desk from Gemma Bain who has taken leave from the service.
St. Patrick's medical doctor and businessman, Dr. Angus Friday is suspected to be the person earmarked to replace Rouse at the United Nations.
