American oil investor, Jack Grynberg has not withdrawn his US$500, 000.00 bribery allegation case against Grenada's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Gregory Bowen.
GRENADA TODAY has obtained documents from the court hearing the legal action in New York indicating that the matter is still before United States District Judge, Denise Cote.
During the 2007 budget debate, Minister Bowen told Parliament that Grynberg had written to Prime Minister Mitchell indicating that he was prepared to withdraw the case and to offer an apology for lying on the senior government minister.
Lawyers for Grynberg acknowledged sending the letter but said that although an apology was offered, this did not take away from the bribery allegation.
Bowen has denied the claim made by the oil investor that the Grenada Number Two had asked for substantial bribes in order to facilitate an agreement for rights to explore for oil and gas in Grenadian waters.
Grynberg is alleging that Bowen conspired with three Russians with oil interest in order to sabotage his agreement.
The latest document obtained by this newspaper was dated January 17, 2007 and concerned directives from Judge Cote on how he plans to conduct the case brought by Grynberg against Minister Bowen and three Russians.
