Head of the Organising Committee of Miss Grenada World beauty pageant, Jennifer Hosten-Sarsfield, is delighted with the execution of Saturday night's show to select the island's representative at the next Miss World in China.

"You are all winners", she told the contestants at the end of the show that was won by German-born, Vivian Burkhardt.

Hosten-Sarsfield, a former Miss World herself said that she was indeed very grateful to have had the opportunity to serve, by helping to prepare Grenadian women to be the best they can be in a world contest.

She pointed out that although only one person can win the title, by taking advantage of this opportunity, the other contestants have all embarked on a road that will lead to other opportunities."The world is your oyster, but only if you take a chance. Just imagine the possibilities and what an experience to share with others in the future", she remarked.

As for Grenada's representative at the Miss World to be held in November in China, work is soon to begin to help further develop her talent and skills to face the other beauties from around the globe.

 Hosten-Sarsfield later Grenada Today that she will be attempting to put together an event to bring all the contestants in the Grenada World Pageant together since they have all become very good friends.

The former Miss World (1970), Jennifer Hosten was issued the franchise for the Miss Grenada World Pageant by the organizers of the Miss World Contest earlier this year. The "Miss Grenada World Pageant" is back after more than 30 years of being out of the world-classed event.

Minister with the responsibility of Culture and the Performing Arts, Senator Brenda Hood, did the honour of crowing the new Miss Grenada. In her written message, Minister Hood congratulated the organisers and contestants of the event for recognising the importance of events such as these, which can be used as a platform to showcase the qualities of Grenadian young women.

She reminded Ms. Burkhardt, the winner of the contest that her role will not only be as the winner of the Grenada World Pageant, but as an ambassador of goodwill for Grenada.

"The spotlight of the world will be focussed on you, the contestant, as you display to the world facets of your charm, natural beauty, intelligence and culture", she said.

Minister Hood reminded the contestants that the poise and knowledge gained from participating in the event will be an invaluable experience which all of them can cherish for the rest of their lives.
