A twenty-eight
year old mentally disturbed man of Creighton, St. George¹s
died by drowning on Tuesday on the Carenage.
Dead is Canessa Du Bois, the son of Joseph Du Bois.
A police
statement said that the dead man left his home in the morning
to seek medical help after complaining of not feeling well.
According to the report about 9:15 a.m, Du Bois was observed
walking along the Carenage Waterfront area, opposite the Jonas
Browne and Hubbards building.

It was reported
that he removed his clothes, except his jockey-shorts and threw
himself into the water. The occupants of a small boat berth
alongside the Carenage and other persons in the area helped
in fishing the body out of the water.
Police
officers rushed to the scene and rendered first aid assistance
to DuBois in an effort to revive him. However, he did not make
it. Dr. Julie Du Bois, a well-known dentist on the island, arrived
on the Carenage to witness her cousin lying on the sidewalk
and soon broke down in tears.
The funeral
home of La Qua & Sons took the body away and following a
post mortem that was conducted it was revealed that Du Bois
died from "asphyxia emission or drowning".
