A local is to head Courts Grenada Ltd. For the first time.
The company has announced the appointment of George Harford to the position of Country Manger of Courts Grenada, effective October 2, 2006.
Harford who hails from Gouyave, St. JohnÕs began his career with Courts Grenada in 1991 where he worked for approximately three years before joining Courts Guyana in 1994.
During his tenure in Guyana, he functioned as the Assistant Branch Controller before getting a promotion to the position of Operations Controller in 1997.
In 2000, Harford was given responsibility for the company's credit portfolio and served as Courts Guyana's Credit Director until 2002.
A company release said that after establishing his reputation as an excellent manager and with specialist expertise in credit, Harford was offered the position of Credit Director for Courts Fiji, which allowed him to gain invaluable working experience with different cultures and modes of operation.
The Gouyave resident was said to be "extremely active" in community development projects while living in Grenada in the 80s & 90s.
This, according to the release coupled with his broad management experience gained in three different Courts companies, made Harford Òthe clear choice to take over the reins as Country Manager for Courts Grenada when Steve Brickell left to take up a position in the Leeward Islands in September 2006Ó.
"I am very happy to be back home and to be of service to my fellow countrymen. I am also looking forward to adding value and offering a higher level of service to the people of Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique, from the experience I have gained over the years working in different environments and with different cultures", he remarked.
The release said: "On behalf of the entire Courts group, we congratulate Mr. George Harford on his appointment as Country Manager of Courts Grenada Ltd.
and under the capable management of George and his team, we are confident that Courts will continue to serve the people and communities of Grenada with great success and distinction".
