A female Cuban woman has reportedly assaulted a member of staff of the GRENADA TODAY newspaper.

The incident occurred Monday on Hillsborough Street in St. George¹s near to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) building of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF).

The female reporter was in the process of taking a photograph of a Cuban Male Nurse who emerged from the building after police had questioned him in connection with an alleged criminal offense. The Male Nurse is accused of pushing his mouth into the private parts of a young mother of two who visited the St. George¹s General Hospital last week Monday for surgery.

On exiting the CID building, the suspect was spotted being accompanied by three other persons, all believed to be Cubans. A female member of the Cuban party was extremely hostile with the female Grenada Today journalist who was taking photos at the time.

The female quickly approached the Journalist, grabbed onto her hand and asked, ³What you doing? What you doing? Our reporter replied, ³My work², as the Cuban continued to hold onto her hand.
Apparently not satisfied with the response of our reporter, the Cuban lady retorted: ³No! no! no! You can¹t. Give me that camera, give it to me².

Our reporter placed the camera into its holder bag and the female from Cuba tried to push her hand inside the bag to get at the camera. An onlooker was heard saying: ³Wait nah, she touching you².

According to the journalist, she managed to free herself from the Cuban lady and walked away from the area. Police are expected to send the case file involving the incident between the Cuban Male Nurse and the Grenadian woman to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for instructions on whether to lay criminal charges against the non-national.
