I loved the editorial of last issue of this newspaper. No wonder
so many people continue to flock for this paper on weekends making
it the most sought after weekly in Grenada.
There are many who cannot and probably will never in this lifetime
understand and appreciate that people who have decided to remain
on the side of sound principles in this life will never ever support
in any form anything that has its roots in deceit. This does not
make them supporters of the opposition.
In this specific case, the NNP with its kleptocratic tendencies
must be opposed on all fronts regardless of how anyone feels.
Little Black and his cronies should never be placed in any position
of trust and authority. The truth of the matter is that NNP is
in government and therefore their actions are up for scrutiny.
To a great extent, the opposition's conduct in office is also
up for similar scrutiny, hence their responsibility to deal with
in a very sincere manner any discrepancies which may be alleged
against any of its members.
The Fullerton issue is one such which they managed to come out
of with flying colours. I must admit that they need to put "alacrity"
as a priority in the manner in which they would address any issue
in the future as the bureaucratic manner in which things are done
takes too much time and serves to vex people who would have expected
better of them considering they are young and vibrant.
I have written it before and I will write it again, the NDC's
key leaders need to exhibit the vibrancy people are convinced
they have within them. After all, this is what attracted the mostly
young population to them in the first place. Notwithstanding the
number of attacks leveled against Burke, David and Prime, to a
lesser extent, and the widespread voter padding accommodated by
the blind eye thrown on the matter by a certain questionable operative
in the Electoral Office, the people went out in their numbers
and the same party consisting of the same RMC "murderers"
as they were called by the chief rapist in Grenada and his cronies
came within six votes of winning the elections.
People in Grenada do not care about those accusations as many
of them are too young to know anything about that 1979-1983 period,
some do not care while the rest forget too easily. After all,
it is because of this nonchalance and forgetfulness that Little
Black was able to find into that important office in the Botanical
Gardens.
After all because people forgot he was embroiled in the Shipping
Agents issue in the early 70s, that he was able to worm his way
to holding the office he now holds. The NDC needs to wake up because
even the same diplomats who love their responsibility with which
they have been carrying out their opposition role in the country
are a little leery of their modus operandi which is believed to
be in need of a change in gear.
Regardless of what people may think of them, they need to take
the fight to Mitchell instead of allowing Mitchell to succeed
with his legal henchman to be always taking the fight to them.
Look at the Peter David issue which seems to have died down! Look
at the Judicial and Legal Services Commission issue with Mitchell's
wild wild man from the West which they are accused of masterminding!
Look at the Resteiner briefcase $500,000 bribery inquiry and the
case in the court which the opposition leader won and Mitchell
still has the guts to tell Washingtonians via the OAS radio that
the inquiry is over! It is time to rattle Mitchell's cage! The
world cup cricket 2007 will be not only a financial burden on
Grenada and the rest of the region, but a social burden as well.
With Grenada becoming as unsophisticated as it has under the hands
of Mitchell and his Kleptocracy during all of the last eleven
years, Grenada is not ready to handle any such activity which
may attract visitors in the thousands.
We see how poorly our food stores are stocked, with never enough
supplies to last a good fourteen days should any natural disaster
strikes. Will they be properly stocked to cater to our many visitors?
What about the price of things which have sky rocketed out of
control with no effort on the part of Mitchell and his gang to
even as much as try to control?
Responsible government is lacking in Grenada and in order for
that to happen, we need responsible opposition. I have already
advised that there is more than enough evidence to support taking
the fight to Mitchell.
So you allowed round one to see you fighting back, do not allow
round two, three and four to allow you to remain in the same mode.
Take the fight to Mitchell. I must applaud the NDC M.P from St.
Andrew's for his candor to deal with the issue of rape in the
House of Parliament much to the personal annoyance of the chief
rapist, himself, who could not as much as respond! That is the
kind of thing I mean.
The diplomatic corps in Grenada must have been pleased to hear
at last this issue being ventilated in Parliament by an Opposition
member. In fact, privately, he was lauded for his effective use
of this issue - considering that the chief rapist is used to throwing
words for him in that direction.
Little Black cannot lay any claim to ever having the guts to investigate
any of his operatives who have used and abused government's scarce
resources - whether through Community Development, Ministry of
Works, IDC, The Offshore Regulatory Body, Ministry of Education
- et al.
It is so good to see that the NNP has managed to place all its
operatives in their green kimono so they are very easily identifiable
in the country. What Fullerton was alleged to have done was already
mastered by NNP operatives who can be seen in close proximity
to the party.
In fact, there is one who is always on the spot of a certain news
medium in Grenada vetting releases to make sure they are included
and making objections to others which appear to favour the opposition.
This one in particular has been the biggest t'ief to ever patrol
the local insurance industry. In his case, he used to collect
premiums from policy holders for Demerara Life, Clico, Guyana
& Trinidad, British American, etc and never turn the money
in. Where is the police investigation into his conduct?
That is not necessary because that individual meets the qualification
to be a staunch supporter of the party! So all of that said, I
implore the opposition to stop being prisoners of their past and
get out in the open and deal with Little Black and his hellish
disciples in the most ruthless of manners governed by your intellectuality
and sophistication.
Look for elections to be not too far on either side of the Cricket
World Cup and launch your campaign early. Mitchell knows that
there is nothing to look towards after the World Cup. The NDC
and the other opposition parties should also remember that Grenadians
need some where to go on weekends so go out and engage in political
meetings.
Hold regular meetings to ventilate the real issues in the country
and accompanied by appropriate music. It is time for the NDC to
even reassert your election campaign song which should never have
faded into oblivion. Keep Little Black on his toes especially
in light of the frightening occurrence of Panday being committed
to prison with hard labour for misconduct/misbehaviour/corruption
in public office in neighbouring Trinidad & Tobago.
Remind Little Black constantly that the jail is waiting for all
who have transgressed against the Grenadian people while in public
office. After all, Little Black and Panday have one thing in common
- Ramesh as their friend! Remind Little Black that his hard denim
without underpants days are just around the corner!
Panday's experience only serves to allow me to hear the jail door
banging louder and louder in Grenada behind the Kleptocracy's
top guns! Remember, there are many Parmasa's who have already
been identified for when that time comes.
