Attention: Mr. Cecil Frederick

Dear Sir,

Re:Carmiel Scott - Notice for removal of structure

We act on behalf of Ms. Carmiel Scott of St. Juilles Street, St. George"s.
Your letter to our client dated 5th May 2006 has been passed to us for reply.
Our client instructs as follows:

(1). She works at the Government Printery as a cleaner and also owns her own "little" business, "We White House". The business is registered under the Registration of Business Act (Cap. 281).
She sells mainly clothing and light snacks, all geared to supplement her meager income as a cleaner. She has a family to support.

(2). In or about 1981, with the permission of the People"s Revolutionary Government (PRG) she began occupying her current location ("the Mockton Street location") and continued to do so for several years.

She thereafter migrated to the United States, worked there for a few years and in the 1990"s, returned to Grenada.

(3). On her return to Grenada, she again set up business at the Mockton Street location and has continued her operation there up to now.
She keeps her surroundings clean and her business is widely patronised by workers at the Financial Complex and other nearby work places.

(4). As a single parent, she has had a tough life in an effort to "make ends meet", she is a popular and law-abiding business lady who has a deep passion for Grenada and its development.
In or about 2004 she voluntarily visited the Inland Revenue Department and expressed her wish, as a good citizen, to "pay something" (taxes) regarding her business operations at the Mockton Street location.
She filled out the requisite forms and has been duly paying her taxes to date.

(5). She wishes to make it clear that she has no objections to vacating the Mockton Street location. However, she would require a reasonable period to do so and an alternative location to go.
After all, her current business represents her main means of livelihood. Apart from daily "bread and butter" issues, she has several other financial commitments, including paying her monthly mortgage.

(6). She prefers to relocate to a spot within the vicinity of the Town of Saint George to conduct her business. She is now in the process of applying to the relevant authorities for an alternative location.
In the premises, we are requesting, on behalf of our client, an extension of four (4) months - until 15th September 2006 - to facilitate the re-location process.
We look forward to your positive response.
