The
Commissioner of Police Mr. Winston James has expressed concern
with the accuracy with the reported allegations made by the Leader
of the Opposition Mr. Tillman Thomas, in a recent article published
in the Grenada Today Newspaper dated April 28th 2006.
The article captioned NDC Leader Phone is bugged, states Mr. Thomas"
intention to notify a local telephone service provider that the
telephone service at his Law Office in St. Andrew's is apparently
bugged.
The article also states that Mr. Thomas has hinted that members
of Royal Grenada Police Force might be responsible and involved
in the operation.
Commissioner of Police Mr. Winston James categorically denies
any such activity. I have never ordered or authorized any operation
of this nature, and I am not aware of any such operation being
conducted by any department of the Royal Grenada Police Force.
There is no facility with such capabilities stationed at Police
Headquarters or on any other Police compound, says Commissioner
James.
The newspaper article also indicated that Mr. Thomas intends to
raise the matter with Commissioner James, but no such contact
has been made with the Office of the Commissioner of Police.
