Wonders
never cease in Grenada. According to Lloyd Noel in his much sought
after weekly column - "never a dull moment" in this little
rock of ours.
This recent attempt at intimidation of Grenada's leading newspaper
editor - George Worme, is again proving to strengthen his resolve
that he must be doing the right thing.
We must never forget that the people who are spoken of well and
congratulated publicly by Littler Black or any of his diabolic disciples
have all been proved to be just who they are: a bunch of nastiness
like him and his close cohorts in the Kleptocracy he heads.
People like George Worme, Chester Humphrey, Madonna Harford, Francis
Alexis, Peter David, and Nazim Burke would do well to accept that
they are doing something right for them not to be mentioned or thought
of favourably by Satan and his clan.
Over the years, just about everyone who was mentioned in glowing
terms by the chief t'ief and were seen close, have manifested their
serious character flaws - just like the chief t'ief. Old people
always say - birds of a feather, flock together.
I went back to the issue of the Grenada Today to read this letter
to the editor which is today the subject of contention regarding
the likelihood of George Worme being arrested and charged with criminal
libel and could not see anything to really encourage me to understand
what is all the "hoo hah" about.
Mind you, when the particular issue was released I did not even
see the letter, far less to read it then. I am sure many people
must have the same experience. Its sternness at describing the behaviour
of the aggrieved as shameful and disgraceful must have struck a
nerve. How else can such behaviour be described especially in light
of the recent detention for seventy-five minutes of George Worme
as part of the preliminary investigation to lead probably to his
arrest under another charge of "Criminal Libel"?
I am yet to see which part of this letter to the editor is libelous
even in a civil context far less to be criminal. Oh what an abuse
of political power. Just as it is said in the Bible, which the chief
t'ief loves to quote: In the last days there shall be wars and rumours
of war; so I believe we can transfer this to the happenings in Grenada.
In the last days of the Kleptocracy, there shall be moves to make
war with upright citizens. The pattern of this attack on George
Worme resembles too well the pattern of the NNP administration ably
assisted and led by its legal henchman who holds several positions
geared towards terrorizing born Grenadians who have a right to life
in their own country.
I have nothing to say about the aggrieved in this matter except
to ask her kindly to look again at the situation which has called
so much attention unto herself. I did not even pay the article any
attention when it was published. In fact, the recent action of the
police has actually caused me to go back and look at it to see what
could be so scandalous that the path of criminal libel has to be
pursued.
Many people can attest to saying the same thing in relation to the
letter to the same editor captioned: "Doc, stop playing politics"
for which George Worme was charged with criminal libel some years
ago. On another issue - have you noticed like I have, the several
people who were vehemently opposed to Gairy with all his sophistication
as a black man with class, who are today following this inferior
impressionist who would like to think of himself as a replica of
Gairy?
Many of these same people were so acid in their opposition to Gairy
that they took to the streets and joined the NJM so-called struggle
of the 70's to ditch Gairy. They got so carried away that they could
not see that they were used by the new dispensation which replaced
Gairy and removed all their rights and freedoms.
Their blinkered view then has come back to haunt them to the point
where they cannot even think straight and objectively so many years
later. If they were sensible they would have realized that the brain
behind the revolution - Bernard Coard - was often times on record
during the struggle praising Gairy's social revolutionary status
of the fifties saying that the Gairy of the fifties was definitely
not the Gairy of the seventies.
What was to be expected to be the difference between Gairy's style
of dismembering the snobbery of the upper crust of our society and
that of the 1979 Revolution? Only the time, the functionaries and
of course the process - as the revolution was really a working class
revolution.
How could you tell me that these same people who could not support
Gairy, as sophisticated as he was, can support this low class crop
of leaders under the banner of the NNP ably led by King Dregs, himself?
Not for the life of me can I understand that!
I humbly submit that these same people who contend that Gairy was
too corrupt and dictatorial must have no concept of "corruption"
and/or "dictatorial" even though they are exposed to worse
acts of corruption and dictatorship during the past eleven years.
Could it have been because Gairy was a little too selective in his
choice of people to carry the weight of commerce in Grenada through
Sugar Daddy Ben Davis, Will, Joe, Sylvester and a few others? Was
there a form of envy towards these working class individuals who
quickly rose to prominence while they who felt they were born to
be at the top were getting left? Or was it that they were really
corrupt and could not find the chance of day to be lime-lighted
as long as Gairy was in power?
I am playing devil's advocate here in order to reconcile this issue
- as I really cannot understand why they seem so afraid of in some
cases, and close to in many cases - this group of inferior vulgar
infidels. It would appear that the Revolution of 1979 - 27 years
ago - really came to show us who is who, in truth.
Many of them as I said earlier were the same ones who were vehemently
opposed to Gairy with all his class and his few shortcomings in
comparison with the incumbent - yet for all they are bosom buddies
with the man whose acts and omissions make their perception of Gairy
look like child's play.
Where can Grenada go with people as confused as these people are
playing influential roles - whether in business, church, community
organizations, etc.? I believe the jail door will bang for Little
Black long before it bangs for George Worme or any citizen who is
on the side of decency in Grenada.
