Less than
four months after being installed as President of the Senate,
Kenny Lalsingh is expected to face a vote of no confidence in
his performance in the key legislative post.
This was
confirmed to GRENADA TODAY by Opposition Senator, Arley Gill
of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who is one of the
architects of the anti-Lalsingh motion.
According
to Gill, a barrister-at-law by profession, it is becoming very
clear that Lalsingh is doing grave injustice to the post of
President of the Senate based on a number of rulings.
He likened
Lalsingh¹s behaviour in the important chair as "disgraceful",
adding that, "if he (Lalsingh) is reading the rules, he
is definitely not understanding the rules".
The NDC
members in the Senate are clearly upset with the latest ruling
of Lalsingh to reject a move by the Opposition to introduce
a motion for debate on the multi-million dollar Garden Group
of Hotels in the south of the island.
Clerk of
Parliament, Kenny Hobson informed Sen. Gill on April 4 of the
decision taken by the Senate President on the motion.
"....The
President (Lalsingh) has asked me to advise you (Gill), that
after careful consideration of the said motion, it is his conclusion,
that it would be improper to include the Motion as worded on
the Order Paper for a Meeting of the Senate", Hobson told
Sen. Gill.
