Another
murder has been committed on the island. Dead is Rookmin Motto,
a Guyanese born woman, who was residing in River Road in a building
owned by the person charged by the police with her murder.
67 year old Eric Williams also of River Road, St George¹s,
made his first court appearance Monday to face a charge of murder
in connection with the death of the 45 year old Guyanese woman.
GRENADA TODAY understand that the woman met her death in what
appears to be a love affair that went sour. The murder accused,
a retired employee of the Grenada Electricity Services Limited,
made his first court appearance before Chief Magistrate Patricia
Mark two days after he was formally arrested and charged for the
offence.
According to reports reaching this newspaper, Motto received multiple
injuries and died as a result of cranial fractures following an
altercation between herself and a male person.
The incident is said to have happened at approximately 10.00 p.m.
last Friday night. Motto¹s body was discovered outside her
home and the police were then alerted.
Spokesperson for the Royal Grenada Police Force, Troy Garvey has
said that the police are relying heavily on what is said to be
a "confession statement" received from the elderly man
in their case against the suspect.
Williams is due to make his next court appearance on June 27 when
the Preliminary Inquiry into the murder charge is due to start
before the Chief Magistrate.
When he appeared in court on Monday, the suspect was unrepresented
by counsel and was remanded to the Richmond Hill prison.
