Details
are emerging about two incidents in St. Andrew¹s involving
members of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF).
In one
of the incidents, a police officer from the Birch Grove area
is under investigation by officers attached to the Grenville
Police Station for a reported case of attempted rape of a school
girl.
According
to a well-placed source, family members of the school girl are
complaining that she might have been drugged with a drink before
an attempt was allegedly made to molest her sexually.
The father
of the officer under investigation is also said to be a policeman
by profession. The suspect has been described as a newly enlisted
member of the police force.
Only last
week, this newspaper broke the news about the decision taken
by Acting Commissioner of Police, Raymond Charles to suspend
a police officer posted at St. Paul¹s Station and to order
an investigation of sexual molestation against him.
The officer
is also suspected of removing from the station diary the complaint
made against him by the woman in question. There are also reports
that a policeman was attacked and chopped with an instrument
at a dance party in St. Andrew¹s over the weekend.
Sources
told this newspaper that the police gun assigned to the wounded
officer was also taken away by his attackers. A source said
that police have detained a number of youths from the St. Andrew¹s
area for questioning in connection with the assault of their
colleague.
Attempts
to contact, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) with the police
force, Troy Garvey for comment on the issue proved futile. Garvey
is said to be out of the country.
