Local business firm, Geo F. Huggins & Co. (G'da) Ltd has made a timely donation of $5000.00 to the Police Welfare Association. The money was handed over to Police Constable Randy Dick on July 6 by Claudian Frank, Assistant to the Manager Corporate Marketing at Geo F. Huggins.

The funds will be used to assist the police group in defraying the cost to host the Police Soca competition on July 15. In expressing his heartfelt appreciation, Constable Dick said: "On behalf of the Police Welfare Association, we are very thankful that a locally owned company as Geo. F. Huggins & Co. (G'da) Ltd., has recognised the need to pledge their financial support to an event like this.

"We view this as a deep sense of patriotism and we look forward to continued support between the Police Welfare Association and Geo. F. Huggins & Co. (G'da) Ltd", he added. The funds generated from the soca competition will be used to assist members of the Royal Grenada Police Force who were affected by Hurricanes Emily and Ivan.

In response, Frank said that Huggins considers the money handed over to help the local police as a means of giving back to the public, by assisting in rebuilding the lives affected by the past Hurricanes. She extended her best wishes to the Police Welfare Association in their endeavour.

And she hoped that other members of the private sector as well as the general public would give the association their fullest support. Over the years, Huggins has made a number of generous donations to several worthy causes on the island.
