As Grenada prepares to mark its 32nd anniversary of Independence, one of the better known cultural artiste in the country is about to be laid to rest. He is popular dramatist, drummer and actor, Michael DeGale and he will be laid to rest on Friday. De Gale who is well known actor and leader of the Theatre of Unique Music and Dramatic Arts Theatre (TUMDA).

The Jamaica-trained actor passed away suddenly last week Thursday night. He was 40 years old. De Gale worked for many years as a staffer at the Customs Department of the Ministry of Finance before he was transferred to a posting at the Richmond Hill prisons. His twin brother, Nigel DeGale described his other half as the most wonderful loving brother and his best friend and that he will be greatly missed.

The DeGale brothers have been involved in a number of advertisements on both radio and television stations, as well as the staging of many dramatic productions. Michael DeGale has been a drummer for more than 25 years and recorded approximately 17 plays since 1983. The TUMDA leader leaves to mourn his wife, Kemlyn DeGale and five (5) children among others.

The brothers were chosen last year by the Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN) to host its popular carnival programme, "Spice up the Carenage". The multi-talented national will be laid to rest at the St George's Center Cemetry following a church service at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Grand Anse.
