Three police officers are facing suspension for alleged financial wrong-doing. The trio have been identified in an official police release as Corporal Horsford, Police Constable St. Paul and Rural Constable Farray. A few months ago, GRENADA TODAY newspaper broke a story about the illegal payment of salaries to some persons identified as police officers who were not members of the force. According to well-placed sources, the detained officers are being questioned about these payments. One of the suspect officers is being held at the St. Paul's Police Station. According to police sources, one of the detained officers has been under the microscope for sometime now given his known lifestyle. He is the alleged owner of a fleet of buses and rpeortedly purchase a set of musical equipment for his local church group. Only a week ago, Police Constable Joseph Tillock was brought before a Magistrate's Court on charges of theft of two firearms in the custody of the force. Tillock was sent to the Richmond Hill prison without bail by Chief Magistrate Patricia Mark but was subsequently granted bail by a high court judge. Police insiders told this newspaper that the two latest incidents involving police officers are clear signs that Acting Police Commissioner Winston James is attempting to purge the force of "rogue cops".
