Heavy rainfall on Tuesday caused serious flooding within St George leaving some business places to deal with the unfortunate task of mopping up the water.
The business place that was badly affected was the popular Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet where customers were seen placing their feet on top of adjacent chairs to escape the rising water.
Flooding within the town of St George has become a serious problem in recent years.
One of the reasons given by the authorities for the constant flooding whenever heavy rain falls is the lack of adequate drainage system in place to collect and release the water.
The problem was expected to improve with the construction work that was undertaken by Zublin on the Esplanade.
However, the situation has apparently worsened whenever it rains with the water now backing up in front of KFC on Granby Street.
Vendors who utilise the street to make their daily living had to secure their goods left on the sidewalk, while customers visiting the stores had to make use of temporary bridges to get across the rising water.
GRENADA TODAY was not able to reach the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) within the Ministry of Works for comment of the plans to deal with the problem.
