Three islands
belonging to Grenada are being offered for sale in the region
of US$17.4 million.
The islands
are Isle de Caille which is going for US$10 million, Sandy Island
for $6 million and White Island, near Carriacou for a more affordable
$1.4 million.
A German
company, Vladi Private Islands is offering these islands for
sale on the internet. Earlier in the week, two Caribbean islands
were placed on the internet auction block for sale by Sheldon
Good & Company - one in Belize and the other in the US Virgin
Islands.
Sealed
bids were invited for the Calabash Caye on Turneffe Atoll in
Belize with a starting price of US$2.75 million. Only the southern
half of the island comprising 14 pristine acres with 2,000 feet
of private beach front. On that lot is the Castaway Reef property
built with green technology.
The atoll
is located outside of the Barrier Reef and is home to over 150
species of fish; an abundance of wildlife, including the Osprey
Eagle, Iguanas, and Saltwater Crocodile.
Over in
the US Virgin Islands, the 230-acre Thatch Cay was fetching
a minimum price of US$18 million. The island is already sub-divided
into three parcels of land. Located a half mile off the northeastern
coast of St. Thomas, Thatch Cay is part of an island chain that
forms the northern protective barrier for Pillsbury Sound.
The 230-acre,
approximate 2 mile long islands is one of the last undeveloped
private islands in the Eastern Caribbean. Seven cayes are on
the market in Belize with prices ranging from a reasonable $695,000
to $9 million.
They are
Montego Caye near Belize City, Ragged Caye, Wild Orchard Caye,
Mystery Caye, and Horizon Caye all in the Stann Creek District,
and Moho Cay and Scipio Cay near Placentia.
Long Coco
Cay 100 kilometers south of Belize City has been sold.
