A Grenadian
born judge residing in Canada has been honoured with Canada's
highest award for lifetime achievement.
Michaelle
Jean, Governor General of Canada recently announced the appointment
of Julius Isaac, former Chief Justice of the Federal Court of
Canada, to the Order of Canada on July 24.
Justice
Isaac, was a member of the bar in Ontario, Saskatchewan, Grenada
and Alberta. He was appointed to the Ontario Court of Justice
in 1988 as a trial judge before his appointment as Chief Justice
of the Federal Court of Canada in 1991.
The Order
of Canada was established in 1967 to recognize outstanding achievements
in various fields of endeavor. It is Canada's highest honour
for lifetime achievement.
