Two persons
are said to be nursing serious injuries from chopping incidents
following Monday's "Beach Fest" which was held
on Grand Anse Beach.

to unconfirmed reports reaching Grenada Today newspaper, it
was a virtual stampede on the beach after gangs involving youngsters
clashed amongst the hundreds of party lovers who turned out
to enjoy the event.
An eyewitness
told this newspaper that a number of persons known to be involved
in some of the leading "gangs" on the island began
throwing bottles after it was announced that Wilt "Tall
Pree" Cambridge was the winner of the Beach Fest soca competition
It was
reported that apart from the throwing of bottles, a number of
persons were seen with cutlasses in hand as "gang members"
began attacking each other.
According
to the eyewitness, one of the persons who was severely chopped
was a female teenager who suffered an injury in the area of
her face. The other seriously injured person is believed to
be a young male, whose hand was almost chopped off.

other persons reportedly sustained minor injuries in the commotion.
Up to press time, police officials were unable to confirm or
deny the incident and efforts to contact the organisers of Beach
Fest proved futile.
