Pastor Stanford Simon of the Evangelical Baptist Church in Springs has called on all churches on the island to forget their different religious beliefs and come together to do the work of God.

The religious leader spoke to GRENADA TODAY after returning home from St. Kitts where the Christian Services Cooperation (CSC) of which he is a member held a one week crusade in August.

According to Pastor Simon, the group decided to venture into St. Kitts to minister to the churches and the more than 2000 sugar cane workers that lost their jobs due to the collapse of the sugar industry there.

He said he encouraged the churches to get more involved in national development such as training, scholarships and educational programmes. Pastor Simon was accompanied to St. Kitts by Ijeal Joseph and Prophet Devon Mc Sween, two young men from different churches in Grenada. He stated that Ijeal ministered to people of St. Kitts through song which brought people to tears.

He said that Prophet Mc Sween ministered to people about life that touched many people at the crusade. The Baptist minister was optimistic that a lot was achieved in St. Kitts through the combined talents of Ijeal, Prophet Mc Sween and himself.

Pastor Simon indicated that many people accepted the Lord, and that 50 new believers committed their lives to ministries, with the youngest being a 17 year old girl. He pointed out that different churches have different talents, and as such they should be combined so more can be achieved.

Pastor Simon announced that he had a meeting and prayer session with the Prime Minister of St. Kitts, Dr. Denzel Douglas and Foreign Minister Timothy Harris.
He said they extended an invitation to him, to come back to St. Kitts to be the Feature Speaker at the island's upcoming Independence Celebrations on September 18.

Pastor Simon said after his trip in St. Kitts, he will be going to Africa in November once again to minister the word of God to the people there.
