A St. Andrew's woman, 27-year old Donna Lessey has been charged with murder.

Lessey who is from La Digue was picked up by police for allegedly stabbing her uncle to death last Friday night. She made her first appearance on Monday before Magistrate Oforiwa Augustine at the Grenville Magistrate's Court where she was remanded to the Richmond Hill prison.

According to police sources, the accused was taken into custody at the Grenville Police station last Friday night, in connection with the death of her uncle, Leadon Lessey. The deceased, a 52 year old farmer by profession, was stabbed to death with an object.

Lessey who is represented by defense lawyer Derek Sylvester will make her next court appearance on March 21.
