A release from the United States Achievement Academy described the award as prestigious, an honour very few students can ever hope to attain. It said that the Academy recognises fewer than 10% of all American college students. Yolande Paryag, mother of the outstanding student, told GRENADA TODAY Tuesday that she is not surprised by her daughter's performance. She said the younger Paryag graduated from the Anglican High School (AHS) at the age of fifteen and begun teaching at the St. David's Catholic Secondary School by age eighteen. Stacey is presently studying Clinical Laboratory with the hope of returning to Grenada to practice in her field at the completion of her studies. Paryag, 27 will appear in the United States Achievement Academy Official Collegiate Yearbook, which is published nationally. Persons are selected upon the exclusive recommendation by professors, coaches, counselors and other qualified sponsors and based on the Standards of Selection set by the Academy. The criteria for selection are a student's academic performance, interest and aptitude, leadership qualities, responsibility, enthusiasm, motivation to learn and improve, citizenship, attitude and cooperative spirit and dependability. Stacey is the daughter of Coleridge Griffith and the grand daughter of Lawrence Paryag. |
