Grace DuncanGrenada's ruling New National Party (NNP) government is planning to appoint former deputy Prime Minister Grace Duncan to a diplomatic position in Mainland China.

Informed party sources told GRENADA TODAY that the Duncan appointment has the support of Foreign Minister Elvin Nimrod and Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell.

A source who preferred to remain anonymous said that the Mitchell administration is trying to get Duncan to link up in Beijing with recently appointed ambassador to China, Joslyn Whiteman. He said the details of the contract to be offered to Duncan is currently being worked out by government.
Speculation is rife that Duncan is currently considering the offer made to her with close family members.

Duncan fell from grace with the Mitchell government in 1997 when she accused the Prime Minister of behaving like "a little boy". The Grenadian leader had sought to blame Duncan for leak of confidential Cabinet information.

Duncan is a former Member of Parliament for the St. John's constituency. She last contested the seat in the 1999 general election but lost to current Education Minister, Claris Charles.
