The University of the West Indies Seismic Research Unit has stated that there has been no unusual activity with Kick 'em Jenny and the alert level remains at yellow, which is normal for the volcano.

The recent tsunami in Asia has caused widespread concerns about the Caribbean's vulnerability to tsunamis, but scientists have said that while it is possible for the region to be hit by a tsunami there is a very low probability of this phenomenon occurring in the Caribbean.

Many have expressed concerns about the possible eruption of Kick 'em Jenny, a submarine volcano which is located 8 km north of Grenada. According to Stacey Edwards, of the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Unit, the threat of a tsunami from an eruption of the volcano is extremely low since a recent (2003) survey revealed that the summit of the volcano is quite deep.

There has been no unusual activity at the volcano and the alert level remains at yellow, which is normal for Kick 'em Jenny, she said. Edwards pointed out that at the moment, Kick 'em Jenny poses a grave danger to shipping as the volcano is constantly emitting gases, which reduces the water density and can cause vessels to sink.

For this reason, she said there is a 1.5 km exclusion zone around the summit of the volcano. According to the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Unit, yellow means that the volcano is restless; seismicity and or fumarolic activity are above the historical levels.

The Seismic Research Unit has also stated that the 1300m high volcano located within Grenada's territorial waters is the most active volcano in the region, erupting at least 12 times since it was discovered in 1939.

The last eruption of Kick 'em Jenny occurred in December 2001.
Kick 'em Jenny is the only 'live' (likely to erupt again) submarine volcano in the Eastern Caribbean.
