Chief Magistrate Patricia on Tuesday began hearing evidence in the Preliminary Inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of Jean Anglais resident, Anthony Hazard, alias "Power", who was killed on Christmas eve night.

Magistrate Mark took evidence from two of the prosecution's eight witnesses in the State's case against murder accused Curtice Andrew of Beaulieu, St. George's.

Among the witnesses who testified were Jacquline Hazard, the sister of the deceased and Gloria Alexander who is considered by the police as a key witness. After giving evidence in chief, Alexander who is believed to have witnessed the incident was subjected to a lengthy cross examination by defense attorney, Peter David.

The 32-year old Andrew was arrested on December 27 and charged with murder by unlawful harm for causing the death of Hazard (37).
The murder is believed to have resulted from an argument between the deceased and murder suspect on the Market Hill area in St. George's.

After the incident, Andrew fled to St. Andrew's where he sought refuge by an aunt. He was captured there on Christmas morning by officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in St. George's. The murder suspect who is being held at the Richmond Hill prison will return to court on February 1 for a continuation of the preliminary inquiry.
