Grenada's only tertiary educational facility has received a number of tools and equipment to the tune of $US20, 000.00.

The T.A. Marryshow Community College will use the equipment for the Information Center, Refrigeration, Masonry, Electrical, Pluming and Farming Departments.

The new equipment, donated by Disaster Resource Network, will replace those that were damaged, looted or vandalized during the passage of Hurricane Ivan in September. Business Manager at the College, Vernie Chatteram told GRENADA TODAY that the President of the Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commence, Nigel John referred the college to Network for assistance.

She disclosed that this is the second time that the Network has donated equipment for the college, with the first donation being over $6,000 worth of tools for construction.

Chatteram pointed out that another shipment of furnishings and extra tools equipment for the technical department will soon arrive. The Business Manager stated that TAMCC "is happy that they received such valuable and durable equipment."

She indicated that 90 percent of the college's roof was damaged during Ivan and the students were left without tools to do their practicals and are very grateful for the assistance received. A team from the network will be visiting the college to look at the progress being made by the students in utilizing the equipment.

According to Chatteram, most of the buildings at the college are under construction in order to return to normalcy as soon as possible. She commended the students saying that they have adjusted to the new educational climate at the college and are very tolerant of the construction process that is ongoing.
