STATEMENT OF SOLIDARITY WITH THE GRENADA BAR ASSOCIATION IN ITS OPPOSITION OF THE APPOINTMENT OF MR. HUGH WILDMAN TO THE POST OF ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE STATE OF GRENADA.

February 8th, 2005

The President
Mr. Ruggles Ferguson
Grenada Bar Association
c/o Ciboney Chambers
H.A. Blaize Street
St. George's

Dear Sir,

The Grenada Trades Union Council (GTUC) - an affiliate of the Caribbean Congress of Labour (CCL) and the International Confederation of Free Trade Union (ICFTU) - adds its voice to the growing chorus of prominent persons objecting to the appointment of Mr. Hugh Wildman to the post of Attorney General in the State of Grenada.

In joining this objection the GTUC relies on the great wisdom of your organisation and is mindful of the plethora of rebuking comments made by courts both in Grenada and the Region about the said Mr. Wildman.

Particularly our attention is drawn to the comments made by one Mr. Lawrence Rowe in an email to the former CEO - 1st International Bank of Grenada, Mr. Van Brink, and the subsequent comments made by a High Court Judge in the United Kingdom when a matter came before his court for consideration.

It is clear to us, and so too must it be all right thinking persons that Mr. Hugh Wildman is not a fit and proper person to occupy the post of Attorney General and we demand the immediate and full revocation of any such consideration. Please be assured of our continued support and solidarity.

Respectfully

Ray Roberts
