Ross, 66, is the first Grenadian Jackpot winner since the game first started on the island in July 2005. The game was launched in the other Windward Islands in December 2004. Ross who won $295,000 said he has been playing the lotto games since its inception and indicated that the numbers he played to win the jackpot was a quick pick. The St. George’s plumber disclosed that he will use some of the money for the education of his son who is a student at Wesley College. The excited winner indicated that he will also use some of the money to repair his home that was damaged during Hurricane Ivan in September 2004 and to repair his vehicle. Another cheque of $285,000 was given to Matthew, the third Lotto Jackpot winner of the year. According to Matthew, when she realized that she had won the lotto, she was so excited that she couldn’t speak. The female Laboratory Technician stressed that she will use some of the money to pay off her loans and to further her education. The 24 year old indicated that she hopes to study Micro Biology at the University of the West Indies. During the handing over of the cheques, two scratch games ‘Colours of Nature’ and ‘Wild Money’ were introduced to reporters by GNLA. General Manager of the authority, Cherri Cromwell disclosed that the new games are already on the market at one dollar per ticket. Colours of Nature gives a person a chance to win up to $1,500.00 while the Wild Money game provides participants with an opportunity to win up to $1000.00 in prizes. Cromwell said that the games are easy to play - a player just scratch the objects and reveal three identical prize amounts to win the prize shown. GNLA now has four types of money games on the local market - the local lotto, scratch, super six and bingo.
