The Grenada Public Service Co-operative Credit Union has gone one step further in its technological advancement. In collaboration with the Grenada Co-operative Bank Ltd, the Credit Union last week Thursday launched a multi-teller ATM machine at the Ministerial complex at the Botanical Gardens in St. George’s. “Connex” is the sign for this new collaborated venture between the credit union and co-op bank. General Manager of GPSCCU, Lucia Livingston-Andall termed the occasion as an exciting day for members. She said that the Credit Union has recognised that if it was to continue fulfilling its mission then the organisation must do so within a technologically advanced environment which provides all the members with easy access to their money and with speed and efficiency. She noted that even as the wider Caribbean was preparing to come together to pool their resources for better efficiency and effectiveness under the Caribbean Single Market and Economy (CSME) initiative, the GPSCCU saw the need to pull its human, technological and financial resources together with a compatible partner for the same purpose. According to Livingston-Andall, the launching of the new ATM is the first fruit from the new partnership with co-op bank and they expect this partnership to be a very fertile one that will give birth to more fruits. Manager of Finance & Corporate Affairs of Co-Op Bank, Richard Duncan termed the day as one to celebrate due to this accomplishment. Duncan spoke highly of the venture which has been in the pipeline for more than four years. The Bank, he said, is always ready and willing to assist the credit union in whatever ways they can, adding that academically and business wise they have long concluded that the collaboration of like-minded organisations is often times vital to their mutual success. This is a notion, he said that has guided them over the years. Duncan stated that the project is conceptualised to allow the Credit Union members to access their monies with efficiency. He said that more than four years later “we are bringing the project to life”. He pointed out that this is the first time this twinning has been attempted and was able to succeed. Minister of Finance, Anthony Boatswain who is also a member of the Credit Union promised to take full advantage of the services of the Credit Union and would be the first to own a Multi Teller Card introduced by GPSCCU and Co-op Bank. Minister boatswain commended the partnership saying that it is worthy of emulation. The senior government minister stressed that customers are constantly demanding better and improved services and that the introducing of the ATM will alleviate some of these problems. He offered the support of the Ministry of Finance to the venture. Chairman of the Board of Directors of GPSCCU, Aaron Moses indicated that the credit union has plans to introduce a number of other initiatives in the near future to better serve their customers. These, he said include a Voluntary Retirement Savings Plan and a Real Estate Project. Moses is confident that the future of the Credit Union looks good in Grenada. The ATM machine is located on the first floor at the Ministerial Complex and service is offered to customers on a daily basis from 8.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. Sunday through Saturday. There are plans to extend the opening hours very soon after security on the compound is beefed-up. The PSCCU Multi-Teller ATM provides customers with a fast and convenient way to access their savings account at the Credit Union. Services available are as follows: withdrawals, transfers, balance inquiries, utility payments, deposits and loan payments. Customers accounts can be accessed at Credit Union House on Church Street, St George’s; at Grenada Co-operative Bank 24-hr Teller Machines at all locations; and at its new location at the Ministerial Complex. The cutting of the ribbon to open the facility was done by Minister of Sports and Co-operatives, Adrian Mitchell shortly after Fr Christopher Kwakye blessed the machine.
