Another centenarian has been discovered in Grenada.

The latest is Jane Dorsett better known as “Nen Jane” of Glassie in River Sallee, St. Patrick’s who turned 100 years on November 29.

Family and close friends celebrated with her on Saturday 10th December 2005 at a special party held in the neighborhood.

Born and grew up in the village of Tivoli in St.Andrew’s Nen Jane attended the Hermitage Government School with the likes of late Bertie Thomas, Vince and Hugu Thomas.

She also gave birth to 11 children of which seven are alive today. At 100 years, Nen Jane is the proud great-grand mother of 29 grandchildren and several great-grand children.

In her younger days she started working “on the Road” and later on she showed her talent in making confectioneries and bakes and salt-fish which she sold to earn a living.

Within the village of River Sallee and the surrounding areas, Nen Jane is the only one surviving at 100 years and having born in 1905 she has seen Grenada gone through many of it challenges and achievements.

Today, Nen Jane reads without the aid of glasses and can even thread a needle.

Happy 100 years to Nen Jane!!!
