The keys to the scooters were handed over to Assistant Superintendent of Police, Michael Francois on Monday at Hubbards' Motor Department on Scott Street. Managing Director of Hubbards Allan Bierzynski who presided over the brief ceremony said that the local private sector company is aware of the difficulties that RGPF face in terms of the control of traffic in the country. He stated that Hubbards' is very pleased to help the traffic department of RGPF in carrying out its duties. Bierzynski urges the motoring the public to have the police force to their fullest support and co-operation. ASP Francois in expressing thanks to Hubbards for the donation described it as very "timely." He said that most of motor cycles belonging to the police force were damaged in Hurricane Ivan last September, at a time when there is an increase in traffic congestion in the country. ASP Francois admitted that the lack of transportation was making it very difficult for police to respond to accidents and other reports in the country. He felt that the donation from Hubbards will go a long way in alleviating the problem. The new scooters will be immediately put into use by the Traffic Department once they are licensed and insured. |
