August
2, 2005 Dear Senator Louison, Reference: Investigation into matters of conduct of Opposition Member of Parliament The Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition conveys his compliments to the Minister of National Security, the Hon. Einstein Louison and writes pursuant to the above captioned subject matter. On the 5th July, 2005, at a Press Conference held at the Ministerial Complex, Botanical Gardens, Tanteen St. George at which you were accompanied by Sen. the Hon. Brenda Hood, Minister of Tourism, you made a public call to the Leader of the Opposition "to investigate allegations that a senior member of his team is involved in a real estate fraud in the United States". You opined that these allegations are serious . . . You stated further, that "the situation as it stands could mean that a senior member of the Grenada Parliament could be charged in a United States Court for fraud. For multiple frauds as it is said. This issue has massive repercussions for national security and image of our country." The Hon. Tillman Thomas notes that you expressed high recognition of his integrity and his commitment to honesty and decency in public office and his crusade against corruption. The Leader of the Opposition shall pursue your call vigorously to establish the truth or otherwise and the circumstances surrounding your claim that a member of the House of Representatives on the Opposition side is "involved in a real estate fraud in the United State. In the circumstances the Hon. Tillman Thomas, Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition shall be grateful to receive from you the following: 1) The name of the person charged for fraud in the United States. 2) Clarification on the involvement of the Government of the United States of America, the United States State Department, and the United States Embassy in Grenada in connection with the charges for fraud against the Opposition Member of the House of Representatives.
Meanwhile, I have written the Commission of Police making a copy of this letter available and requesting information on the Law Enforcement Agencies of the United States Government which have expressed an interest in this matter of fraud. Please find attached a copy of the Hon. Tillman Thomas' letter to the Commissioner of Police. Finally, because of the obvious public interest in this matter I have sent copies of this letter to the media as well as each Member of Parliament, Civil Society and Political Parties. Thanking you most kindly, I remain Yours truly,
