This weekend will see the climax of Spicemas 2005 with the finals of the major carnival shows - soca monarch, panorama and calypso finals.

The soca monarch is to be held on Friday night at the Tanteen netball complex in which 15 Artistes would compete against reigning Soca Monarch Baby Killer for the title.

They are Randy Isaac, Michael Williams (Mr. West), Sheldon Douglas, Dave Peters (Boogie B), Elimus Gilbert (Inspector), Wilt Cambridge (Tallpree), Edson Mitchell (Ajamu), Marcus James (Lavaman), Alle Andre Paul (Spider), Andy John (Four Brass), Evelyn Alexander (Zingo), Nathifa St. Louis (Nathifa), Nnika Francis (Nnika), Clint John (Super Flint), and David Aban (Chain). The STAND BY for the show is the duo of SHELDON SAMUEL and JOEL PERSAUD known as IGNITION
Tickets for Friday's GCC/Cable & Wireless Soca Monarch are $45 and the show starts at 9.00 p.m.

The Soca Monarch Finals has been shifted to the Tanteen Netball Complex, after the original venue for the event Quarantine Point was changed on Tuesday due to security concerns expressed by the police.

On Sunday night, 9 calypsonians will challenge the reigning monarch King Ajamu for the title of Calypso Monarch.

Last Sunday 18 semi-finalists fought for a spot in the big show, despite the small number of patrons attending the show held at the Tanteen Netball Court.

The challengers on Dimanche Gras night are DAVID ABAN (CHAIN), JUDE HENRY (NATTY), RAPHAEL JOHNSON (CROQUETTA), SEAN MILES (SOUR SERPENT), FINLEY JEFFREY (SCHOLAR), LLOYD PANCHOO (MR.X), RANDY ISAAC, ADRIAN THOMAS (PERSUADER), and EDISON FRANCIS (TEACHER EDDIE). The NCCDC announced that the STANDBY for the kaiso monarchs is LINCOLN JOHN (BUBBLER).

The Tanteen Netball Court is once again the venue and the admission is only $25.
The other major national show - Panorama - will take place on Saturday as five steelbands will try to defeat last year's winner Coca Cola Pan Wizards.
