Bandits reportedly pulled off another robbery last Wednesday at the Hermitage Government Primary School. The robbers reportedly entered the building by smashing one of the windows and proceeded to ransack and vandalize certain sections of the building. GRENADA TODAY understand that the intruders took away and destroyed several items belonging to the school.

It was not business as usual at the school on the Thursday as teachers and other members of staff were forced to look at a property that was badly vandalized. The teachers reported the matter to the Hermitage Police Station in St. Patrick's. The police officers stationed there responded but informed the staff of the institution that they will refer the matter to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Grenville, St. Andrew's.

Later that evening, a party of CID officers visited the scene to look for finger prints. The officers also took away some items from the school. Officials of the school later told GRENADA TODAY that it was the second time in less than three weeks that thieves had broken into the building. It was disclosed that during the last school term, there were as many as ten (10) breakings at the school.

No one has been arrested and charged as yet. The Hermitage Primary School has a student population in excess of 300 children. According to a senior member of staff, the constant acts of vandalism against the school have become a cause of concern for both teachers and to an extent members of the community.

The teacher feel that the bandits seem to have a vendetta against the institution since when they do not get much from the break-in, they will turn around and damage tables, desks, kits and cupboards at the school's kitchen making it difficult for the children to be fed.
