Outspoken spiritual leader, Pastor Stanford Simon is calling on Grenadian men to take full charge of their family and do not allow the women to do it all on their own.

Simon who ministers' with the Christian Services Corporation (CSC) conducted a three day crusade over the Easter holiday weekend at the Morne Rouge playing field in the south of the island.

On each night, he prayed and asked the people of Grenada especially non- Christians to rebuild their relationship with God. The fiery clergyman whose sermons are usually aired on two local radio stations told GRENADA TODAY in an exclusive interview that there is no reason why local men should not step forward and play the lead role in rebuilding their families and communities.

He described the three day event at Morne Rouge as very touching and successful. He said he knows that God is speaking to Grenada because there is a cloud of spiritual darkness hanging over our nation that "we need to overcome".

Pastor Simon stated that Grenadian young men and women should give their life to Christ and stop living in sin.
He said that young people especially the men should take responsibility for their lives and not waste it since the end of the world is near at hand.

The Spiritual leader charged that immorality and sex are very common among the nation's youth and it is time that they should see their bodies as having more value and refrain from blaming anyone but themselves for their downfall and failures.

During a sermon delivered on Sunday, Pastor Simon said there is a need for Christians to become more involved in politics since there is a need for spiritual leadership "in our politics and government". "We read in the bible that Joseph took up a leadership role and led his people. He was a leader. Some of us christians have no problem in voting and there are those of us who can be good Prime Ministers and leaders but we stay away from politics and say that it is bad", he said.

"When you ask them why, they will tell you (is) because mainly bad people that are involved in politics (and) forgetting that it is us who allow bad people to get involved ....because we allow them to", he added.

Pastor Simon also used the occasion to invite the churches on the island to become more involved in community activities and to encourage more community participation, as well as to participate in sporting activities, and to help establish community clubs and groups. He said the churches need to encourage people to change and live a good and clean moral life not only in the church but outside in the community where they belong.

Pastor Simon who leaves the country for a trip to Africa on Friday (April 1) stated he intends to spread the same message on the continent. The Spiritual Leader who will be accompanied by leading Caribbean gospel singer, Barbadian Paula Hinds said he intends to reach out to thousands of Africans in his desire to spread the word of God.

He is expected to make stops in Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania and on returning home, Pastor Simon will take his preaching throughout Grenada by conducting crusades in every parish on the island.
