Bullets reportedly sprayed like rain inside the Grenville Police station on Easter Monday as two police officers attached to the station allegedly drew firearms and began shooting at each other.

According to information reaching GRENADA TODAY, the two junior police officers apparently resorted to that type of behaviour in an attempt to settle an ongoing dispute.

It is believed that the officers were involved in a confrontation earlier in the day before embarking upon the shooting spree. This newspaper was told that some police officers at the station failed in their attempts to bring peace and calm between the feuding policemen.

Well-placed sources said that the situation got out of control and service revolvers were drawn with both officers shooting at the other. GRENADA TODAY was told that the other officers at the station had to immediately take cover both inside and outside of the building as the bullets ricochet off the walls of the station.

Up to press time, it was not clear whether any of the officers received injuries in the shooting spree. On Wednesday, our News Desk contacted the Media Consultant with the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF), Troy Garvey for comment on the alleged incident.

Garvey said that this was the first time he had heard about the incident and needed to check the information out with the relevant people in the force. He called back half-an-hour later and said that he would first have to speak with newly appointed Acting Commissioner of Police, Winston James before getting back to this media house.

He did call and said that an incident had happened at the Station. According to Garvey the Office in charge of the Eastern Divsion, Superintendent Dunbar Belfon is conducting an investigation.

He told our newsdesk that one of the officers involved in the incident has been transferred to Police Headquarters while the investigation is ongoing.
