Police are said to be investigating the recent fire bombing of a three bedroom dwelling house in the Boca, St. George's area. According to eye witnesses reports the house was allegedly set ablaze by a group of bandits from the Vendome area calling themselves the "Stainless Crew". GRENADA TODAY understands that the gang members, allegedly led by a popular local soca artiste, were seen dressed in black and moving around in private vehicles on the night the house was set on fire. The fire-bombs reportedly smashed the windows of the house and within minutes the building was totally gutted by fire. There are unconfirmed reports that the gangsters, numbering about twelve persons, were seen purchasing gasoline in the Tempe area a few days before the incident. An eyewitness said that on the night in question, some of the suspects were seen beating a little boy in an attempt to get information from him on the whereabouts of two other men. It was also reported that members of the gang were seen lighting several torches at top boca which were allegedly used to bomb the dwelling house. One of the suspects is said to have walked into a police station to deny involvement in the incidednt. He reportedly told lawmen that he was no where near the destroyed house and had no knowledge of the incident. The police have made no arrest but investigators assured the owners of the house that they are continuing their probe into the matter. One of the persons who resided at the house told our news desk that the police advised them not to retaliate against any of the suspects. It is reported
that the occupants of the house were unable to save any of their belongings.
Damages are said to be in excess of $250,000.00 EC. |
