Although the official Launch of Carnival scheduled for April 28th had to be put off due to the adverse weather conditions, the Grenada Carnival Committee still went ahead with its previously planned Carnival jump-up through the streets of Gouyave.

The evening was a splendid and invigorating success. The music of DJ Danny D took the streets at exactly 6pm and the overly anxious Carnival fans did not hesitate to begin the jump-up.

The huge crowd was very well behaved, allowing the RGPF to grant an additional hour to the jump-up allowing it to go until midnight. Soca Artistes Inspector, Zingo and Kinky Kim gave the crowd a taste of what is to come in 2004 while thrilling them with hits from past years.

The Grenada Carnival Committee is overjoyed at the success of this initial venture and would like to thank the business community of Gouyave, Mr. Michael Wilson and the RGPF for making the event a resounding success. The new Launch of Carnival will take place on the evening of May 19th (after the W.I vs Bangladesh ODI). The venue remains the Port Highway.

The Launch begins at 7pm and will feature all the components of Carnival - mas, calypso and pan. The Launch of carnival is free to all and the Grenada Carnival Committee would like the Grenadian public to come out and let us get Spicemas '04 of to a sensational start.
